Students at an elementary school in New Rochelle, NY, a largely Democratic suburb of New York City with a City Council and School Board dominated by Democrats, were recently assigned an in-class assignment to color in drawings of Barack Obama to mark the occasion of the inauguration of the 44th President. The drawings depicted Obama in various heroic poses, flags waving in the background, but one drawing went beyond adulation into overt political activity disguised as a pedagogical exercise. The drawing is a campaign button, in the center of a circle Barack Obama is smiling surrounded by another circle with the words “Students for Obama 2008”.
At least one student objected but her concerns were ignored. “I was mad”, the second grader told Talk of the Sound. “I wanted McCain to win”.
Do public school employees cross the line with this sort of thing? New Rochelle Superintendent of Schools Richard Organisciak, an Obama supporter, did not respond to emails requesting comment. What do you think?

Communism is not a
Communism is not a legitimate viewpoint. At least not until it’s proponents come clean and honestly debate it. What it’s said to do and what it actually does in practice are 2 very different things. It’s anathema to God and the Bible, opposite to America’s Judeo-Christian heritage. Liberalism/Socialism/Communism is the face of evil.
Communism is on the march! Can you spot it? Will you give everything to defeat it?

Anonymous Liberal Democrat: Thanks for espousing the true values of liberalism. I’m sorry your party has abandoned you, but you retain my respect.
To the troll who can’t use English: I volunteered for Iraq and will volunteer again (That’s right, Obama is not actually in any hurry to withdraw our troops, since he saw how valuable the mission is…eventually. I think the NSA brief covered the valid strategic reasons to be there, and his unawareness points out his lack of qualification for Chief Executive, but I digress). As I am both literate and a veteran, I’m able to speak for myself, thank you.
I also recall that US involvement in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam and Bosnia were started by Democrats, and that FDR stuck 110,000 Nissei (and a few non-Japanese, since all slanteyes look alike, right?) into concentration camps without trial, and confiscated their property. You probably didn’t hear that in your neolib run publik skool.
When you get to the rant about how people like me make you ashamed of America, keep in mind I’m an immigrant.
As to my daughter and her school, they covered all parties (and I mean ALL), and she came home and said she didn’t trust Obama, he told too many transparent lies.
Not bad for a 10 year old.

One more thing. I have a 10 year old, she knows I voted for McCain, but I also took her to see Bill Clinton campaign for Hillary during the primaries. I thought it was worthwhile for her to see a former President. It was exciting for her, we were outside, pretty close to the podium and all went well until Clinton began trashing Bush (which was interesting considering it was a military community and Hillary was running against Obama, not Bush). My 10 year old turned to me and said, “lets go”. I was a little disappointed! I wanted to stand in the rope line and meet him afterwards just to see if I got a sense of the charm so many say he has.

“I know Bush didnt earn it”
“I know Bush didnt earn it” Neither has Obama, for that matter. Soldiers are still dying. Clinics are still being broken up and sent to prison. Blood and treasure is still pouring out into the sand, and civil rights are still being removed.
Obama is paying off his base fiduciary-oligarchy with bailout millions while you and I wonder if we will be able to eat next month.

“Democrat” has become an
“Democrat” has become an identity movement as opposed to a political affiliation. This is the Alinsky impact on the party; they’ve turned our party into a secular religion. I remember the Truman and JFK years well. They would be appalled with these new Alinskycrats. What they did to Hillary is unforgivable. When they control the school systems, they will brainwash your child the same way and destroy the children and families who resist. Obama is the fusion of politics with secular religion. All wrongs are justified by being for Obama. Even children are being subjected to reeducation camp type indoctrination tactics.
Eric Hoffer wrote The True Believer and won the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This is a great book our children need to read.
What good is Freedom if you have no Liberty?
Alinksycrats talk Freedom and trample Liberty.
To the Alinskycrat. Your 50
To the Alinskycrat. Your 50 years out of date. The subversion of the Democrat Party began around 1919 and was complete by 1933 with the election of FDR. It was the Roosevelt and Truman Administrations that were infested with Communists who’ve affected nearly every facet of each Americans lives ever since. Hillary was also schooled personally by Alinksy, she’s certainly no victim! There’s no ideological difference between President Obama or Secretary Clinton. Both adhere to Communist doctrine. Communism is evil, fight it or succomb to it!

I’m a Liberal Democrat, and
I’m a Liberal Democrat, and I voted for President Obama – and this sort of indoctrination really creeps me out!
The unfortunate truth of the matter is that Obama has attracted a certain cohort of people who would be perfectly happy to live under fascism. They don’t seem to have any regard for civil rights, or Democracy, they just want to have a Maximum Leader who will punish their enemies.
Frankly if someone pulled a stunt like this w/ my kids, I’d sue them for everything they’re worth. It’s a blatant violation of the UN’s conventions on childrens’ rights.
The point is that children
The point is that children ought not be used to push for a particular candidate nor should they be encouraged to idolize a political figure, regardless of party affiliation. I have no problems with Obama the man, but what can only be described as the worship of the man by our mass media, entertainment establishment and much of the unionized workforce is downright scary, and the same would be true if the same folks had been this enraptured with McCain.
Sounds like a case of Sorass

No, having students color
No, having students color pictures of our new president is not “going to far.” If that’s going too far, perhaps teachers shouldn’t be allowed to even mention B. Hussein O.’s name in a classroom setting, since their tone of voice will indicate their evil unionized liberal commie Islamofascist support of president B. Hussein O. After all, every time one uses B. Hussein O.’s name in anything but a totally robotic neutral tone isn’t one betraying one’s liberal bias? Ridiculous.
Obvious troll is obvious!!

Why on Earth would
Why on Earth would responsible parents send their kids to these indoctrination centers?
I attended New Rochelle
I attended New Rochelle public schools and it took a military enlistment to straighten me out. That said, my folks didn’t really have an option at the time. Cost of living is so high around there that private schools were out of the question. After I graduated my parents realized that they didn’t want my younger siblings going through the sort of crap i went through and moved to a farther suburb…not that there was any less indoctrination there, but at least there wasn’t the constant racial violence.
At Barnard school there is a
At Barnard school there is a portrait of Barack Obama front and center when you enter the building. I don’t remember there being one of Bush or Clinton …
I didn’t vote for Obama either.
I know
Bush didnt earn it
I know
Bush didnt earn it after all just look at his record , more then 3000 soldiers died because of his lies about mass ditructions Bush is being in the history record as the worst president, Nixon look like a saint next to Bush and he was impeach Bush should of been impeached it was the worst 8yrs in the world look how he left our economy and then he gave wall st. all that money and the banks too .
I only pray that he doesnt get bad coma. God help
him and his family he better repent before the lord has his head.
Im proud to say I voted for OBAMA
and when God helps him with this economy all u republicans will be left only with Bush memory and we will never vote for a republican again cause u r all money hungry and dont care about the world only ur selfs and we will always vote for democrated
I am assuming by your use of
I am assuming by your use of the English language you also went to a New Rochelle public school.
I hope you don’t represent the typical Obama voter, or one of the teachers in the New Rochelle school district!
You need to go back to
You need to go back to school, to a school that actually teaches you grammar and does not put liberal fascist ideas in your head.
1) Obama has hardly done
1) Obama has hardly done anything yet. How can he be praised to this extent when he hasn’t done anything?
2) Bush did not lie. He had mistaken evidence.
3) 3000 soldiers regrettably have died. But millions are now free in Iraq. Those soldiers did their duty, and can only be praised for giving their all.
4) Bush has been out of office for what? 3 weeks? And history has already judged him to be the worst president? Really? Or could it be that its just your opinion?
5) Nixon was never impeached.
6) Bush began with a recession. He left a recession. But he had uninterrupted 52 months of unprecedented job growth. Yup, he failed on that one. Not!
Bush and the Republicans
Bush and the Republicans weren’t responsible for our current economic woes; that was the fault of the Democrats insisting that bansk lend money to deadbeats who would never be able to qualify for a real loan.
Frankly, your apparent lack of education (proven by your ungrammatical comments) places you in the perfect demographic to be a drone for the Democrats…
Most Americans think that the government can’t fix our ailing economy, were you aware of that? Furthermore, in any part of the world where socialism has been tried, it’s been a failed experiment; so what makes you think THIS time will be different?
Obama isn’t a God, he ien’t even a very good man. He’s just a greedy, dirty politician. If you doubt that, keep in mind that Obama just signed an executive order EXPANDING the use of rendition. Maybe someday you and your ilk will realize what a bill of goods you “bought” on election day…
I’m sure you won’t vote
I’m sure you won’t vote republican again. In fact, after stumbling through your comment, I doubt you’ll ever get a vote recorded unless they start using crayon ballots.
Let me guess…you were
Let me guess…you were indoctrinated…er…I mean(ahem) “educated” in New Rochelle public schools, right? Ever heard of English grammar?
The useless Democratic Congress had a big hand in giving the TARP money to the banks without regulation. President Bush tried to sound the warning about the bad housing loans long before this ever happened, and the Dems in Congress – including the illustrious Bawney Fwank – got up and told everyone that Freddie and Fannie were fine and healthy! No problems at all. He’s a crook and a moron.
As far as the war in Iraq, maybe you could spew your nonsense to my nephew, who is a U.S. Army soldier in Iraq. Maybe you could tell that to the Iraqi people. The troops are still finding mass graves from Saddam Hussein’s reign of terror – my nephew’s unit found another last fall with 80 bodies of men, women and children in it. There’s no telling how many people Saddam and his sons tortured and killed, apparently just to get their jollies.
As far as me ever voting for a dumbocrat, that will NEVER happen. The Democratic party is the party of Socialism and death. President Hussein’s popularity is down from being in the 80’s to the 50’s…and is still falling, because people are just now seeing him and his cohorts for what they really are. They are NOT the agents of change that they promised to be. His cabinet is Clinton II. They are the agents of entitlements and socialism and will destroy personal liberty. They are going to bankrupt the United States with Pelosi’s stupid trillion dollar spending spree.
One evening while helping my
One evening while helping my 1st grader with her homework, she said to me, “Daddy, why didn’t you vote for Obama?” I said, “I didn’t think he had enough experience.” She said to me in a glowing way, “Daddy, but Obama gave really good speeches.” I said, “Yes, but I still didn’t think he had enough experience.” Then I asked her this, “Where did you learn about Obama’s really good speeches?” She said, “In school today we went on BarackObama.com and watched the movie.” She then proceeded to tell me how great Obama was, not quite understanding why I didn’t think her way.
Her next assignment was to write a letter to the new President.
Should a father have to get into a political discussion with his first grade daughter?
Should a first grader be influenced by the clear Obama worship of their teacher? This particular teacher didn’t seem to realize over 50 million voters didn’t choose Obama. I just wasn’t sure if it was activism or ignorance on the teacher’s part. I suspect ignorance.
SHE IS TOO YOUNG FOR POLITICS and it’s not fair to have the school be used to divide a family on political lines.
I sympathize. As a little
I sympathize. As a little girl I adored my father (still do as a matter of fact), but I still recall quite painfully the “arguments” we had over politics and current events. I would learn about Policy A in school- it was so good, and would help people and animals and the environment, and it was obviously the choice for caring people. Then I would go home, say something about Policy A, and discover my father actually supported the horrible Policy B. My father is an attorney, and when challenged on his position provided logical arguments that were quite overwhelming to a 9-10 year old, and I inevitably ended in tears. (It wasn’t deliberate, but I must say it was a terribly effective way to bring about total surrender-good thing I was not more manipulative!)
Eventually I learned to ask questions and make reasoned arguments, and even managed to win a debate with him fair and square. Still, I regret the fact that my generally excellent teachers presented policy decisions as “good” or “bad”, rather than as choices about which reasonable and honorable people could disagree.
I can almost promise you that the teacher has no idea that her actions could create a family divide- she may not even think she’s doing anything other than teaching the kids a civics lesson, and of course writing a letter to the President is appropriate, as long as the teacher isn’t trying to tell them what to say. I hate to be a pessimist, but it will probably get worse as your daughter gets older. Good luck.
wow.
Obama is the champion
wow.
Obama is the champion of a certain set, and that set rules the schools. They also want to bring your young into them, they think that is just and right and humanitarian. Who could impeach such motives?
I sympathize; I am dealing with the same problems with a little bit older kids. They are dumb, they sense a conflict, so far they defer to ole’ dad. But the oldest is in 6th grade just hitting puberty. Puberty, college, girls, drugs, twentysomething angst, all that awaits and I fear for him, as I fear for his younger siblings. I desperately don’t any one of them to grow up! haha.
Things are set up to suck my kids down the way of stupidity with studies, inexorably. The pieces are set, game’s on.
What an incredible burden to traditional parents, the eternal enemy, these days!
Anymore to be a conservative
Anymore to be a conservative is to be the rebel and that can be attractive to some kids. Today Alex P. Keaton would be the bad boy on campus. My 19 year old daughter is constantly challenged by her College Professors just as she was by her teachers all through high school. She is a military brat, her dad hit about every deployment there has been in the last 20 years, he was in Iraq when she was a freshmen in high school, so she has a set of values and experiences many her age do not have. In my opinion she is the lucky one, she has had her views challenged and she has learned to defend them.
The only time I stepped in during her high school years was during the 2004 Presidential election. Her history teacher announced to the class that if Bush was reelected there was going to be a draft, to include pregnant woman. I usually like her to handle the teachers, but you’ve got to draw the line at outright lies!
