“Remembering La Rochelle” weeks is a celebration arranged by the Sister City Initiative of the City of New Rochelle. Two musical guests, Yvon Momboisse (pictured right), pianist, and Malo Mazurié Desgarennes, trumpeter, are coming to New Rochelle cuortesy of the Rotary Clubs of La Rochelle. They are young, but top-notch jazz musicians and have played in both Europe and Asia.

All I could find online for Malo Mazurié Desgarennes was his Facebook page but there was plenty online about About Yvon Momboisse including some video so you can watch and hear him play boogie piano.
Yvon was born on October 4h, 1989 in Aurillac, France. He began his music studies at the Ecole Nationale de Musique d’Aurillac. He trained as a clarinettist and developed a passion for Jazz. He is currently 1st clarinet of the Harmonie municipale d’Aurillac, was a clarinetist of the Symphony Orchestra of Haute Auvergne. Yvon plays many instruments and is occasionally drummer and clarinetist in the band “the Ganelette of Maurs. He studied piano as well.
In 2001, he discovered “Boogie” at the Festival International de Laroquebrou and has been hooked ever since. His uncle educated him on the classic boogies of Claude Bolling. He participated in the festival “boogie” La Roquebrou 2003 and performed on stage with Philippe Lejeune (a renowned pianist from Toulouse). Yvon has also performed extensively in England.
Yvon received his BA with honors He wants to go to USA or England to spend a year and improve his English. He wants to become an English teacher.
In the video below Yvon plays a duet with Eeco Ricken Rapp of Holland at the 2007 UK International Boogie Woogie Festival. They play two versions of the classic Albert Ammons/Pete Johnson track “6th Avenue Express”.
