Dia de los Muertos is celebrated November 1st and 2nd. Although its date on the calendar and the symbol of the skeleton invite comparisons to Halloween, it is a very different holiday. The history of Dia de los Muertos began 3,000 years ago in Central Mexico with the Aztecs. They believed that the spirits of the dead returned once a year to be with their families and do everyday things.
