NOTE: Talk of the Sound asked Jeff Coleman of DPW for clarification this morning. No reply yet.
In the late morning some residents of New Rochelle received a recorded message for the Deputy City Manger of New Rochelle stating that there was a water main break in the City that was causing water pressure issues throughout the City and that the issue will be resolved by the evening hours. He also went on to say that the water was safe, this is where the story is. During this water main break, some United Water Official informed someone at the New Rochelle Police Department and City Hall that he water was NOT SAFE to be consumed. If this was the case, why would our Deputy City Manager leave a message on city residents’ phone’s stating that the water was safe for consumption?
This is a very serious communication issue that may have placed many New Rochelle residents at harm, especially young children, the sick and the elderly. Who was this United Water Official and who are the Police Officer and City Official that received this health alert that never was relayed to city residents?
If this information is true, it just goes to show city residents how unorganized and uncaring the current New Rochelle City Administration is and that all they care about are themselves and raising taxes on hard working people so we can pay for there fuel, vehicles and unnecessary entertainment and travel.
Should anyone experiencing sickness, pain, discomfort or any other health related issues that may have been caused by consuming this tainted water, please notify a medical professional such as a Doctor or Emergency Room and inform them right away that you may have consumed tainted water from your tap.
And let us know here on newrochelletalk.com, we really want to know!!!

New Rochelle Residents Advised Not to Drink Water
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Residents of New Rochelle have been advised not to drink water from their taps due to a water main break.
Water should only be used for household sanitation purposes but is safe for hand-washing, officials said.
Automated calls were made by the New Rochelle city manager’s office to alert residents.
Residents of Pelham, Eastchester and parts of Scarsdale were also affected, officials said.
The problem started at about 12:30 p.m. in a main on Pershing Avenue.

I am leaving it up for now primarily because it affords me an opportunity to educate contributors on this issue. I do not want to distract from the topic at hand — whether or not the water is safe in New Rochelle and whether or not New Rochelle residents are getting clear answers.
