H & R BLOCK – Jackson Hewitt and Identity Theft

Written By: Talk of the Sound News

One of the biggest and most under reported sources of identity theft occurs at tax time. Large firms like
H&R BLOCK and JACKSON HEWITT hire part time workers every year for a few months to do peoples taxes and then they’re gone. They have access to all your personal information and your families information like SS#, bank accounts, address etc.. everything a person needs to steal your identity and your money. The best thing to do is find a tax preparer near you that has a year round business and no temporary employees for tax season. A family run business is the best!!!. The following link is a NY Times story about a White Plains H&R Block MANAGER that stole hundred of files and sold them. It happens much more than they report.

  1. Good to know!
Can you please expand on this.

Go to a site like anywho.com or yellowpages.com and come up with a list of all a tax preparers in New Rochelle that have a year round business and no temporary employees for tax season. It would be a tremendous resource. If you then will remind me at tax time I will re-publish your list at that time.
