Sister Miriam Therese Peppin, O.S.U., Director of the New Rochelle Office of the Aging and the Hugh Doyle Senior Center, died of cancer on February 5, 2010 at St. Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry, NY. She was a member of the St. Teresa’s Ursuline community in New Rochelle. Sr. Miriam Therese devoted her life to the care of the sick and elderly.
The wake will be held at The Ursuline Convent of St. Teresa, 39 Willow Dr, New Rochelle on Sunday, February 7 from 2-4 & 6-8pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Family Chapel, The College of New Rochelle on Monday, February 8 at 10am. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Ursuline Retirement Fund or to St. Cabrini Nursing Home.
From 1977 to 2003, Sister Miriam Therese Peppin served as the director of the New Rochelle Office of the Aging. She played a large role in the operations of the Hugh Doyle Senior Center. She helped create a computer center with facilities and instruction for seniors to learn the use of computer technology. The facility was named in her honor in 2004. In 2000 she received a Merit Award for Outstanding Work from the City of New Rochelle.
