The City Council will meet tomorrow, Tuesday March 16th at 7:30 PM.

The agenda for the meeting can be found here.

HIGHLIGHTS

1. Amendment to the City Charter to take away authority to appoint the Civil Service Director from the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission to the City Manager. Rather than fire Domenic Procopio the City is taking away his only power. Expect the position to be eliminated altogether once enough time has passed to allow the Mayor and City Manager to claim this has nothing to do with Mr. Procopio pocketing tens of thousands of dollars in illicit property tax exemptions.

2. Amendment to the City Code to charge for parking 24 hours a day in the downtown area. This will be the first official appearance before the City Council for Michael Freimuth, the new Commissioner of Development.

3. A proposed agreement with Artistic Service Inc. concerning the murals at the Armory. Forest City has agreed to pay for the cost of cleaning the remaining murals at the New Rochelle Armory. Some murals disappeared 2 years ago and have yet to surface.

Also, note the Industrial Development Agency (IDA) is on the agenda with no explanation which means this item bears watching.

The public is permitted to address the City Council after the meeting during the “Citizens to be Heard” portion of the meeting. Anyone wishing to address the council for the allotted 5 minutes should sign up on the list at the front of the room.
