Stacie Wells, Entertainment Manager of the USO of Metropolitan New York, toured New Rochelle today in preparation for for annual Memorial Day Event at Hudson Park organized by the United Veterans Memorial and Patriotic Association (UVMA) and the City of New Rochelle.
On Memorial Day, Wells will be back in New Rochelle with the entire USO Liberty Bells, a troupe of charming and gifted performers who have dazzled and delighted audiences around the world with four-part harmonies, solo performances, dancing and array of patriotic costumes that never fail to bring cheering audiences to their feet.
The group is made up of talented and dedicated Broadway and off-Broadway performers who are chosen in a competitive audition process. Their performances feature WWII era hit songs such as Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree, I’ll Be Seeing You, and Thanks for the Memories, as well as the current patriotic hits of today. Their rousing rendition of the National Anthem lifts spirits and stirs hearts with every performance.
Peter Parente, Event Coordinator for the Memorial Day Parade and Co-Chairman of the Save Our Armory Committee showed Ms. Wells around New Rochelle with stops at the American Legion Hall, Hudson Park and the bandshell where the USO Liberty Bells will entertain a crowd expected to be in the thousands. The last stop on the tour was the New Rochelle Armory where Former New York Assemblyman Ron Tocci, co-Chairman of the Save Our Armory Committee, provided a brief history of the facility and its use in military conflicts going back to World War II. Mr. Tocci previously served as the New York State Commissioner for Veterans’ Affairs.
