Sights and Sounds from an art installation during the day time with sounds of traffic below. As you walk through the enclosed bridge connecting the New Roc Parking area to the Trump Building, above Huguenot Street, you experience lights and sounds meant to mimic ocean waves.
NOTE: Turn up the volume on your computer speakers to hear the “whale” noises.
I am going to try to go back at night and see what it looks like then.
Love the artwork on the bridge
I regularly go to NYSC and appreciate this artwork every time. It is especially interesting at night, is a creative installation and appropriate for New Rochelle as a waterfront community.
Today, an informal survey of gym goers found people like it! “It’s cool” and “Really nice”. The kids are especially enamored with it. There is a colorful light show at night that goes along with the music.
One note, though, is that several of the squares are cracking at the corners. Maybe they were installed too roughly or maybe the hot-cold changes in temperature are affecting the installation. I hope the damage does not spread. Some squares are missing, too.
If I remember correctly there was a competition for this artwork. This seems to have been the winner.
My memory says this was paid
My memory says this was paid for by Cappelli when he tried to get the Bridge approved by the City Council after it was pretty much installed.
You would think the bridge approval would come ahead of the bridge but not it Cappelli’s world.
Note to the IRS they claim his art donation having a value of 200,000 dollars.
It is quite a stretch or who knows the so called artist might have gotten 200K but its hard to believe it costs more than 20K.
whale noise
how much did this cost the tax payers? maybe the money could have been used to beef up security around new roc.WHO BENIFITS from this?
