Jeanette Gomez.jpg(NEW ROCHELLE) Westchester County police arrested a receptionist at a New Rochelle medical practice on Wednesday night and charged her with using patients’ credit card numbers to go on an online shopping spree.

Jeanette Gomez, 24, of Soundview Avenue, Bronx, was charged in connection with two recent thefts of credit card information, which she then allegedly used to buy baby clothes online from Neiman Marcus and Old Navy. She then had the items delivered to her place of employment.

Gomez is charged with two counts of Identity Theft, two counts of Petit Larceny and two counts of Unlawful Possession of Personal Identification Information, misdemeanors.

The investigation began when a patient of the medical practice contacted county police recently after noticing an unauthorized purchase made on his credit card. County police determined that the items that were purchased were to be delivered to a medical office on Quaker Ridge Road.

Gomez was arrested Wednesday night about 6 p.m. after she accepted delivery of $320.78 worth of merchandise she had ordered online from Neiman Marcus. She also was found in possession of $308.42 worth of merchandise from Old Navy that she had ordered online with information stolen from another patient.

Detectives believe that Gomez stole credit card information from at least seven patients of the medical practice. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are anticipated.

The medical practice is cooperating with county police and plans to send a letter to all its patients alerting them to the situation.

Gomez was released pending an appearance on June 28 in New Rochelle City Court.

  1. Apparently she is employed again
I have just found out that this girl is now employed by a medical Group in Pelham. I have no clue on how this is even possible since she has commited a crime!! This is going to continue on with other patients having their credit card info stolen! Please be aware of this.

  2. This appeared in the Journal
This appeared in the Journal news but I ask the following.
Do we know what the name of the medical practice as this is key information assuming you want to check to see if this is a medical practice you visit?
Why is the practice being protected the name of that practice should be the second sentence in the Journal News article. I believe this should be public information.

    1. Info has been withheld
The medical practice was not identified by the Westchester County Police which announced the arrest.

I am sure a reader of this blog knows so perhaps that information will be posted.

There are a variety of reasons why they would not disclose this information but law enforcement typically does withhold the names of victims and cooperating witnesses so there is nothing unusual here but I agree that I would like to know as my doctor is over there.
