TALK OF THE SOUND TV: Veterans Groups React to Bramson Sneak Attack on New Rochelle Armory , “Shocked” and “Wounded”

Written By: Robert Cox

Talk of the Sound caught up with leaders of the veterans community in New Rochelle and asked for comment on the news that Mayor Bramson had asked area lawmakers to pass a Home Rule bill in order to tear down the New Rochelle Armory.

Edward R. Murrow is hardly quaking in his boots over the launch of the news Talk of the Sound TV channel on YouTube but we’re giving it our best shot with no funds and limited production capabilities. Don’t worry, we’re not taking ourselves to seriously but thought it might be nice to try and add more video reports like this to the site. Enjoy!

  1. Video and Save Our Armory Committee
What the video illustrates is that this group is organized, committed and invested in the effort. The city would be foolish to ignore them. Their interest is honest and authentic. The city should include them fully in the planning of the area. It is what is right to do.

  2. Here’s Amy Paulin’s response to my email
    Bill:

The bill will not be considered at all this session. It would have to be reintroduced next session (next January) for it to to be considered and I imagine there will be lots of discussion about any proposal. Thanks for your insight on the issue.

    Hi Amy,

But are considering it? This is a very BAD bill and very few (except the current leaders of New Rochelle) want the Armory torn down.

Are you just waiting for a request to come from New Rochelle’s city council and mayor? If so, please note we the citizen’s ask that you stand up for us and stop this. We need you now to stand up to people who are trying to railroad this through the legislature without any input from the citizenry.

Remember, once the Armory is torn down, it’s forever removed from doing any public benefit and I see NO benefit to tearing it down. I actually don’t know if the site will ever be developed. Its been talked about for years and years now and 1 of the largest hurdles is moving the New Rochelle’s Public Works Yard which has gone nowhere to date. Also consider where the housing market currently is and I can’t see Forrest Ratner investing the kinds of money it will take to build the entire project. There’s just no return in it for them to make that kind of investment.

Thanks for taking the time to read and understand this issue. People do care about the Armory and so should you.

    Thanks,

    Bill

  3. Video
I like the video. Makes the story more personal. (Even though the intro music is a little cliche)

    Please post more of them!

  4. Fertel claims today no Council meeting planned
On WVOX Councilman Barry Fertel claimed there was no Council meeting scheduled on the Armory bill. When Bob Marrone asked if the Coucil had taken it up, he claimed there were aome emails among Council members. Is this similar to the 3 x 3 meetings when Boyle was the lone ranger on the Coucil?
