Three Massachusetts residents were arrested on felony drug charges today (July 3) following a traffic stop by Westchester County police on the Hutchinson River Parkway in New Rochelle.
Police Officer Steven Stromberg was on patrol on the northbound Hutch near North Avenue when he stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction about 11 a.m. Additional investigation by Stromberg and Officer Dave Sanchez and his narcotics detection canine Sal lead to the discovery of 4.5 ounces of cocaine wrapped up in a sweater that had been placed under the rear passenger seat.
Arrested were: Luana Ramos, 26, Luis Velasquez, 26, and Omar Lopez, 24, all of Springfield, Mass. They were each charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd and 3rd Degree, felonies. They are being held pending arraignment in New Rochelle City Court.
