Joel Mowbray, an award-winning investigative journalist, will give his take on what future U.S. policy toward Israel should be in a provocative lecture presented by the Israel Affairs Committee at Beth-El Synagogue Center on Sunday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
A leading expert on Iran, Iraq and North Korea, Saudia Arabia and Israel, Mr. Mowbray recently uncovered the fact that the Bureau of Priosons was allowing Islamic terrorists in federal prison to communicate with the outside world, although the agency lacked even a signle full-time Arabic translator to montior the calls and letters of more than 100 terrorists.
Mr. Mowbray is best known for his State Department expose of Visa Express, subsequently described as “an open-door policy for terrorists. His reporting of a policy that effectively allowed travel agencies in Saudia Arabia to hand out visas led to the end of the program. He is also the author of “Dangerous Diplomacy: How the State Department Threaten’s America’s Security.”
Mr. Mowbray was named “Journalist of the Year” at the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2003. He also won the Eugene Katz award for excellence in immigration coverage.
Widely published in a variety of national publications, such as the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, National Review, New York Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Philadelphia Inquirer, Investors Business Daily and Jewish World Review, Mr. Mowbray also has appeared more than 200 times on television news programs, ranging from “Good Morning America” to Fox News’ “Hannity & Colmes” and “Fox & Friends.”
