Talk of the Sound needs your support!
What began as a labor of love has taken on a life of its own. Our traffic has increased exponentially — up 1,000% since the 1Q09 alone. The costs of running the site have gone up accordingly and we need to put Talk of the Sound on a “going concern” basis. To pay the bills until we can ramp up our new advertising program this fall, we are embarking on a two week fundraising drive which will end September 30th.
If you think Talk of the Sound has made a difference for the better in New Rochelle and want to see more — just bigger and better — please consider clicking the “donate” button above to contribute to the ongoing operation of Talk of the Sound.
As readers will recall, our servers melted down due to traffic volume on the site and we had to switch to a far more expensive dedicated server set up with more sophisticated technology to block attacks on the site and provide system redundancies. All of this costs money — a lot more money than we had planned for back in 2008 when Talk of the Sound was born. On top of this, it turns out that ferreting out corruption in New Rochelle is a full-time job! Who knew? 🙂 To accommodate this I have pulled back on my consulting business and paid writing for other publications to focus more time on New Rochelle and Talk of the Sound.
In the coming weeks we intend to launch a new version of the site which will incorporate space for taking advertisements which should help in bring in enough income to put the site on a better footing and allow us to expand our coverage and service offerings. To get there, Talk of the Sound had to incur some up front costs and we need to raise about $5,000. Any additional money we can raise will be invested back into more reporting on New Rochelle.
You can use PayPal or any major credit card to make a contribution. As a web site, we would prefer an online payment but if online payments make you uncomfortable you can write a check payable to “Robert Cox/Talk of the Sound” and send it to 34 Aberfoyle Road, New Rochelle, NY 10804. Donations to Talk of the Sound are not tax deductible.
