New Rochelle residents will be gathering tonight at the American Legion Post 8 at 112 North Avenue to discuss their concerns after the murder which took place Saturday afternoon on North Avenue near Huguenot. This will be the first open public forum indiscuss the events of the past weekend in
The New Rochelle Citizens Reform Club is bringing together a number of community leaders including City Council members, political candidates, downtown business owners and others. City Councilman Lou Trangucci is scheduled to address the group and a question and answer session will follow.
Candidates for the District 3 Special Election (Peter Parente and Jared Rice) and for New Rochelle City Judge (Cynthia Lobo and Susan Kettner) have been invited to briefly address the group.
Jim Killorin of Habitat for Humanity of Westchester is expected to come by share the result of his meeting Monday with downtown business leaders where he first proposed his idea for a Citizen Safety Committee and a Youth Mentoring Committee. He will also discuss the petition he is circulating which calls for more walking police and a new downtown precinct for the downtown area and some of the surprising organizations that have already signed on.
