Lovely weather, friendly people, local history, baked goods, tag sale, educational and fun. Thomas Paine, an American founding father, lived here. His pamphlets, including ‘Common Sense’ inspired the revolutionary war soldiers.

This one room schoolhouse was moved here in 1912 (I think) from Wykagyl. A volunteer was conducting spelling bees while we were there and giving prizes.

These are inside the Thomas Paine cottage, which he received as a part of 300 acres from the US government for his service. As I understand it, the land was taken from a Loyalist after the Revolutionary War.

Here a child is learning how to write with a feather quill.
