Jason Costa, Vice President and CEO, and Paul Fortuna, President and COO, of A & N Heating Oil approached Sound Shore Medical Center administrators with their desire to publicize Breast Cancer Awareness in the area and to name the Solomon Katz Breast Center as the recipient of their humanitarian efforts. So, during October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the public will start seeing a non-traditional oil truck making deliveries.

A & N’s commitment includes not only painting one the company’s trucks pink and white – for its lifetime – and including a breast cancer awareness message, but also a portion of the proceeds from each gallon delivered by the Pink Truck will be donated to the Solomon Katz Breast Center at Sound Shore Medical Center. This partnership is just in time for the 2010 heating season. Anyone wishing to support A & N’s commitment to the Solomon Katz Breast Center by ordering heating oil from the pink and white truck can contact Mr. Costa at 914.637.0070.

Sound Shore Medical Center President and CEO, John R. Spicer, commenting on the partnership said, “We are delighted to partner with A & N Heating Oil in breast cancer awareness. Since its opening, the Solomon Katz Breast Center has provided a vital resource for area woman. From screenings to surgical intervention, we have the expertise needed for breast health.” He added, “We are delighted to be recipients of this community spirit.” He concluded, “A & N’s commitment to breast cancer awareness will help us reach more women through education and mammogram screenings.”

In business since 2002, A & N Heating Oil is a home heating company that provides complete maintenance services 24/7, as well as competitively-priced products. Both Mr. Costa – who is also a City of New Rochelle firefighter – and Mr. Fortuna are residents of New Rochelle and are enthusiastic about their new partnership for breast cancer awareness. Both men are eager to make a difference not only for the breast health of their families but also that of others in the Sound Shore region.

The Solomon Katz Breast Center at Sound Shore Medical Center opened through the generosity of Solomon Katz, who lost two sisters to breast cancer, including his twin. Since the beginning, the Breast Center has been a resource for not only education and information on breast health and breast cancer, but also a premiere location for breast screenings and when necessary, surgical intervention.
