My audits have found any number of steps the MTA could implement to save hundreds of millions of dollars. But instead of taking a hard look at how the MTA spends money to achieve much-needed cost savings, the MTA continued to take the easy way out by increasing tolls for New York commuters. New Yorkers would be better served if the MTA decreased inefficiencies by further reducing overtime costs and looking for opportunities to share services.
