New Rochelle, NY—This Thanksgiving season, over 60 New Rochelle families will receive holiday food baskets through a collaborative effort between two City Youth programs and Shop Rite supermarket.
The New Rochelle High School Student Action Committee of the City School District of New Rochelle and the Youth Council of the New Rochelle Youth Bureau, with the assistance of the Youth Bureau and Parks and Recreation Department, are sponsoring a Holiday Food Drive from November 16-22 to benefit local families. Donation bins for canned and non-perishable goods will be set up at the Shop Rite at Palmer Avenue through the coming weekend. The food collected will be assembled by the youth into family baskets on Monday November 22nd for distribution the following day along with turkeys from Shop Rite.
“We commend ShopRite as a community partner for their support of the efforts by our local students to help others during this holiday season,” said Youth Bureau Executive Director Kelly Johnson.
