Can There Be a Merry Christmas in Iraq and Afghanistan? YOU Can Help Make it Happen

Written By: Talk of the Sound News

Thanksgiving found many of us joining together with family and friends to celebrate and give thanks for what we have. In stark contrast to the comfort of our celebrating together, approximately 150,000 men and women currently serving in Afghanistan and Iraq will spend this Holiday season some 7,000 miles from home and separated from loved ones.

YOU can bring a little slice of home to those who serve just by helping out Jennie McFarland and the good folks over at "Operation Support Our Troops". With very little effort on your part, you can help make a connection with home and let the troops know we care. Keep in mind, we may call them the “troops”, but they really are our sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, aunts, uncles and friends. Don’t let their distance come between home and heart.

On December 5th, between 10:00AM and 2:00PM at St Augustine’s Church in Larchmont, there will be 3 ways YOU can help make a difference in someones life.

-Donate care items (for a list of what’s needed click HERE)

-Volunteer to help pack boxes for shipping

-Donate money to pay for shipping (each box costs $12.50 and you can donate through paypal on their website)

Cards and letters of support are very powerful and can do wonders for morale, especially from school children, so don’t forget to include one with your donation.

What if it was your relative or friend? Don’t look back on December 5th with regret knowing you could have made a difference. So, check the LIST, purchase some items, and show up at St Augustines on December 5th. Be generous, be involved, but most of all, be there.

If you should need any more information, visit www.carepackagedrive.com or e-mail Jennie McFarland at jennie.mcfarland@verizon.net

I’ll see you there.
