2010 Census Report, Due Out Tuesday, Expected to Contain Bad News for New York State — Loss of Two House Seats

Written By: Robert Cox

The Associated Press is reporting:

The 2010 census report is coming out Tuesday. Experts expect it will show an increased shift from northern states to the south and southwest.

The biggest gainer will be Texas, a GOP-dominated state expected to gain up to four new House seats, for a total of 36. The chief losers – New York and Ohio, each projected by nongovernment analysts to lose two seats – were carried by Obama in 2008 and are typical of states in the Northeast and Midwest that are declining in political influence.

Many in our community are also waiting to see preliminary numbers for the various racial & ethnic groups not only for New Rochelle, Westchester, but also nationally.
