ChadJonesMugshot.jpgNew Rochelle police made an arrest last Friday in the pistol-whipping burglary at a house where Iona College students live at 43 Treno Street in New Rochelle, NY. Chad Jones of 109 Horton Avenue, 23, was arrested Friday for forceable theft with a deadly weapon. Two other men are sought in connection with the crime.

The Journal News is reporting that Jones was charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary, both felonies.

On the night of December 14, a man pretending to deliver a pizza knocked on the door. When the door was opened, three men rushed into the house, went up stairs and directly to the room of the victim. The victim was repeatedly struck with a pistol then left. A small safe and several hundred dollars was reported stolen.

Captain Joseph Schaller said the victim was not an Iona College student. Schaller felt the circumstances, in particular that the perpetrators went straight to the victim’s room in the house, suggested that the victim was targeted and not indicative of a threat of home invasions to neighbors.
