A company in Connecticut with clients all across the country is offering New Rochelle residents an incredible opportunity to work together to make our City a better, cleaner, safer, more pleasant place to live all while giving each of us a role in helping our City government gather real-time intelligence in a way that few, if any, municipalities could ever afford. The cost? Zero. The opportunity? Priceless.
SeeClickFix works like an online version of New York Mayor Bloomberg’s 311 system.
Talk of the Sound has set a goal of registering 200 New Rochelle residents to become SeeClickFixers, creating a network of citizens equipped with iPhones, Blackberry’s and Android phones who will use their devices to capture photos and GPS coordinates and tag them with brief descriptions of a problem that needs fixing — potholes, graffiti, vandalism, damaged street signs, and other sorts of non-emergency issues. The information will go straight into the SeeClickFix database creating a report, an email alert and pushpins on a Google map which will enable City officials to gather real-time intelligence about issues as they crop up in our City each day. It could not be simpler.
1. Sign up for a free SeeClickFix account. You can use your real name of a pen name.
2. Download the SeeClickFix mobile app for your iPhone, Blackberry or Android phone.
3. After you install the app, add your login information to the settings and click “Start a New Report”.
The apps are self-explanatory but if you get stuck try their Support Knowledge Base. If you are still stuck contact Talk of the Sound directly and we will get you sorted out.
Talk of the Sound is one of many web sites that host a SeeClickFix widget, ours is limited to New Rochelle and is displayed in the right column on our home page.
Talk of the Sound Managing Editor Robert Cox interviewed Ben Berkowitz, CEO and Founder of SeeClickFix. Skip ahead to the 26:28 minute mark to hear the 8 minute segment.
