Armory Success
You have very good examples. It is sad that the mayor and city manager do not have such vision.
Thanks knitter for the kind words
Part of the mission of the Save Our Armory Group, is to raise awareness to the possibilities that already exist right now, right here in our own backyard. Our position is to reach out to all who would care to make a difference for the community by realizing this potential. That includes the Mayor, City Manager, Council persons and most of all, citizens across the city. We start with the vision but it takes everyone coming together to make it happen. No one can have all the answers, but together, we can start to write the next chapter in New Rochelle’s history. Thanks again and keep in touch!
There are many great community armories
Look at the armory in upper Manhattan. It contains a state of the art track and field that has expanded over the years to included a hall of fame for US track and field. More importantly, it is a venue for thousands of public and private school students where they can run, jump and participate in many activities. Look at the Teaneck, NJ armory where young and old are able to partake in soccer games at all times throughout the year.
We have many great sporting clubs in New Rochelle who must travel to distant towns to play hocker, soccer etc. Why can’t we develop our armory to provide the athletic venue where our children can prosper and exercise. It’s easy. In the college town I attended, Albany, Ny we have an impressive Armory that is used for professional basketball and for young people to safely hang out every night. Thank you!
