(New Rochelle, NY) — Student volunteers from Iona College’s Hagan School of Business will again offer free tax help to low-and middle-income taxpayers on four Saturdays leading up to Monday, April 18, Tax Day. The traditional tax return filing deadline is April 15, but the IRS this year has approved extending the deadline by three days for 2010 tax returns in observation of Emancipation Day, a legal holiday in the District of Columbia.
Approximately 25 students, who are majoring in accounting at the Hagan, will be available for consultations between 9:00 AM and 1 PM on March 5, March 12, March 26 and April 2. Iona provides the income tax assistance program annually which is available on a first-come, first-served, walk-in basis only. It will be held on the lower level Computer Lab of Hagan Hall on Iona’s campus, 715 North Avenue, New Rochelle, New York.
Taxpayers will need to bring the following:
- Last year’s tax returns
- This year’s tax package and/or label
- W-2 and 1099 forms
- Information on any other income
- Information on deductions or credits
