The concert, sponsored by TIFTY (Temple Israel Federation of Temple Youth), the Temple’s high school organization, is a benefit for the Youth Involvement Fund.
For lovers of contemporary rock music, this highly acclaimed group headed by Josh Nelson will be a special treat. Its Jewish edge is apparent in lyrics in Hebrew or with Jewish identity themes. Critics have cited Josh’s “high-energy and captivating performance style” and have noted that “his music consistently leaves audiences with strong feelings of community.” A multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Josh’s music is integrated into the repertoire of congregations, communities and camps around the world. His CD, “Lift,” released in 2009, has broken new ground with razor-sharp lyricism and a progressive, radio-ready sound.
He has performed over a thousand shows in a variety of venues across the globe including international conventions for each of the major youth movements in the USA as well as on PBS Television’s Hanukkah special, the JCC Maccabi Games and elsewhere. He serves as music director for the URJ Biennial Convention, faculty for the Hava Nashira Music Institute, and a musical artist in residence for the JCC Maccabi
