Woman Arrested at New Rochelle Deli for Possession of a Controlled Substance After Leaving Two Young Children Unattended in Car

BattagliaBrosA woman shopping at a deli on North Avenue was arrested by New Rochelle Police after an employee of the store called 911 to report her for appearing to be drunk and having two young children in her car parked near the store.

The woman, given over the scanner as “Gail Gearn” (sic), lives at 15 Water Street in New Rochelle, NY. She was driving a beige Jeep. Inside were two young children in car seats.

Police responded to the scene and arrested the woman for possession of a controlled substance. Child Protective Services was called. A police officer drove the woman’s car, with the children, to the New Rochelle police department.

The woman was shopping at Battaglia Brothers Meat Market at 138 North Avenue.

Criminals would be well advised to stay out of the popular deli. This is the second time in the past six months that a call by a Battaglia Brothers employee resulted in arrests. Back in September, police chased a group passing counterfeit money after employees at Battaglia Brothers became suspicious of the bills used to make a purchase. An altercation ensued. The suspects entered a vehicle and drove North, along North Avenue and were apprehended near the Post Office on Huguenot.
