Every ten years, New Rochelle receives population demographic results of the most recent Census. City Council is required to redraw local council district boundaries to equalize the district population and ensure fair representation for all the people of New Rochelle.
The City Clerk has posted a redistricting page on the City website to facilitate community engagement in the redistricting process. The page can be accessed directly at www.newrochelleny.com/redistricting. The page features redistricting goals and objectives, maps of the current council district boundaries, and the latest Census population demographic data, released March 24. The page will also feature any proposed or draft plans to be released in April.
Suggestions, concerns and/or objectives about the physical and demographic characteristics of New Rochelle’s council districts or recommendations for change or preservation of any aspects of the current district configuration should be directed to the office of the City Clerk. To submit comments, please email the City Clerk at cityclerkinfo@newrochelleny.com or write to “City Clerk’s Office – Redistricting”, 515 North Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10801.
