New Rochelle resident Lance Corporal Robert W. Parente, a marine attached to 1st Battalion 12th Marines out of Marine Corps Base Hawaii, departed recently for a seven-month deplayment to Afghanistan. 1/12 will provide artillery fire support to 2nd Marine Division during ongoing counterinsurgency operations in the Helmand Province.
