PaidContent.org: Main Street Connect’s Most Ambitious Launch Yet
Hyperlocal network Main Street Connect has rolled out 32 community-based news sites in its biggest launch to date. The areas covered by the launch covering Westchester County from the Sound Shore communities of New Rochelle and Rye to the Hudson River towns of Dobbs Ferry and Tarrytown to the northern hills of Bedford and North Salem.
Main Street Connect bills itself as “Main Street Connect is a national community news company. We’re dedicated to producing high-quality, local news and information, and sharing the voices of our readers with the community at large. ”
AOL Patch has 800+ web sites in its ad network and plans to continue its aggressive growth. Main Street Connect has expanded from 10 sites to 50+ this year but plans to have 3,000+ sites by 2013. The company was founded in 2009. Publishers like AOL Patch/Huffington Post, Main Street Connect, Examiner.com and Demand Media (owners of eHow.com) are known as content mills which focus on generating and aggregating large amounts of ad-driven media content, paying low rates to writers, while pumping keyword driven content and meta data into search engines. Content is typically produced using predetermined templates, optimized for search engines and highly repetitive.
Good Luck and some advice
Please don’t listen to only one side of the story and don’t let that demcratic machine in city hall tell you what to write and when to write it. I see Noam already has this site up on his web page. I hope he is not there story teller like he is to patch. I guess we will have to read and learn.
Thanks
