The New Rochelle Fire Department responded quickly to reports of a possible car fire on Webster Avenue near Bon Air Avenue. No one was seriously hurt but the two drivers involved in the crash were badly shaken. There was no fire but the air bags deployed on one of the vehicles.
According to witnesses at the scene, the driver of a beige Nissan Maxima, heading north on Webster Avenue towards the Hutchison River Parkway struck a silver GMA Acadia as it crossed Webster, heading straight across Bon Air Avenue. The Acadia was not badly damaged except for some rear axel damage. The Nissan Maxima was totaled as the entire front end of the vehicle was caved in by the impact of the crash.
“This intersection is dangerous,” said a woman who lives nearby. “My daughter was involved in an accident right over there”, she said, pointing 50 feet south on Webster.
Neither car was drivable. Safeway Towing was called to the scene.
