Shouting yes…with a pumped fist is how I felt on the morning of Father’s Day when watching the weather report. My relationship with weather.com had always been similar to a golfers tool or resource. Now, its expanded to a partnership, often times dreading its advise and loathing the predictions. I’ve also learned more than expected about weather, no more shall I call on Janice Huff for explaining the mixture of warm and cold fronts meeting over Wildcliff’s waterfront.
So our first music concert was born on June 19th featuring The Helen Sung Quartet on Wildcliff’s lawn and seawater backdrop. At 80 degrees with warm breezes, attendance was at its best, as singles, couples and families from across Westchester County and even Fairfield CT joined in on a spectacular day.
Helen and her band performed for roughly ninety minutes to a very appreciative audience. Accompanying Helen was Yosvany Terry (Sax), Dezron Douglass (Bass) and Darrell Green (Drums). All of whom were on top of their game. And as requested of all musicians, she started the day with ‘My Favorite Things,’ a favorite of mine performed by John Coltrane.
Really its never a dull moment because we must pull off another hat trick with the current forecast for Saturday’s comedy concert starting at 6:30pm. We’ve held one of three events, and my new bestfriend weather.com is showing that we have a chance…I’ll leave it at that.
Featured in tomorrow’s comedy concert are Incoming Tide comedian veterans Amy Carlson and Brian Jian. Both of whom are sure to make you laugh…and during times like this, everybody needs a laugh or two, three.
The word is spreading that New Rochelle has a gem of a hideaway space for outdoor entertainment. In June’s issue of Westchester Magazine, Wildcliff was named one of twenty three best ways to spend your summer days. Wow!
And while you’re enjoying music, comedy, dance or theater, please say hi to our caterer from Woody’s Grill.
He makes a great burger. As always, tickets available at gate, however www.smarttix.com is the best way to expedite your seating at $10pp, or call SmartTix at 212-868-4444.
Looking forward to meeting you this season.
