Westchester County Seeks Nominations for Senior Hall of Fame

Written By: Robert Cox

Do you know a senior who is making a difference in Westchester County?

Perhaps he or she is a special volunteer at a hospital, senior center or nonprofit group. Or maybe that person has been a leader in improving services for seniors or other Westchester residents. If so, consider nominating that person to the Westchester County Senior Hall of Fame.

The nominees who are chosen will be inducted at the 29th annual Senior Hall of Fame Luncheon on Dec. 2 at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown.

The Hall of Fame awards are presented for outstanding contributions in one of three areas: human services, humanitarianism and philanthropy, and for outstanding leadership in initiating, improving or expanding services or programs.

To learn about more criteria for nominees, to download a nomination form and to see the list of winners from previous years, visit the Web site of the county’s Department of Senior Programs and Services (DSPS) at HYPERLINK “http://www.westchestergov.com/seniors”www.westchestergov.com/seniors.
The list of past honorees is posted to show which individuals have already been recognized. But if a person was nominated in the past and not selected, they can be nominated again this year.

Nominating forms must be mailed before Sept. 19 to Caryl Weinstein, program coordinator, at DSPS, 9 S. First Ave., Mount Vernon, N.Y. 10550. For more information, call (914) 813-6400.
Forms are also being mailed to senior centers and not-for-profit organizations in the county.

The event is sponsored by the Westchester Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services, DSPS and Westchester County Parks.
