The show will go on through the Blog Talk Radio network and we have now added a weekly Talk of the Sound Newsletter as well. Today we will discuss the recently disclosed financial situation at the New Rochelle Public Library with NRPL Board Trustee Bo Kemp who is extremely knowledgeable on the topic, the NRPD church clean up and other stories ripped from the headlines of Talk of the Sound.

  1. How WVOX Uses Their Unfair Forum
As a New Rochelle citizen, I am well aware of WVOX and the main voice behind those walls on 411 5th Avenue in New Rochelle. The owner, William O’Shaughnessy uses WVOX and a forum to fight his personal vendettas. He is a man that will wear a suit and presidential cuff links when he makes a grand entrance at Le Cirque, but all he is is a pathetic coward that wimpers behind a bathrobe where he resides at the radio station. He is a first class bully, picks on the executives at the New York State Lottery all because they decided not to advertise on his stations. Oh, yes he did this, even went to Medenica’s house in Pelham Manor and harrassed him. He also mocks Curry Chevy because his ex-wife Nancy O’Shaughnessy found him with a male prostitue. He harbors his mentally challanged son at the station who harrasses show hosts for rides and cigarettes. The FCC should look into this.

  2. parking tickets in new rochelle
I have an annual parking pass for one of the city lots–$630+ a year. My car was ticketed one day this past fall. Parking tickets are $25, or was then. My parking pass, clearly visible and in the same spot on the rear driver-side window was no use on that day. The next day I flagged down a police officer who told me m only recourse was to appear at city court. Now for most people to take time off to appear in court for a $25 ticket would not be fiscally appropriate given that the court is open from 9-4. Fortunately, I had a day off and was able to go. The court clerk told me that he could not eliminate a ticket even when presenting photographic evidence of my car with ticket and parking pass both timestamped following the ticket. He reduced the ticket to $10, which I paid.

Other residents in my building have had similar issues whereby they were ticketed while having appropriate parking passes. They merely paid the ticket. Seems like a an intentional racket. The ticketers in New Rochelle are like Nazis. I have other stories, but for now I will pause.

    1. Welcome to the Club
It is quite amazing that people are burdened by this ticketing process. We all seem to submit to paying the fee. I recently got a ticket but the attendant did not place the ticket on my car. A few weeks later, I got a $80 summons for ticket plus penalty.
I went to court, and like you, there was no recourse. The penalty was waived and I paid $40. After paying, I got some remorse. I should have fought it. Gone to trial. Force the City to prove that I was parked illegally. I stopped a quick moment at the Post Office in Wykagyl bfore going to work. There are no meters there. It is a mall parking lot, for God’s sake!!!

It is time for everyone to simply go to trial. It is our right to a fair trail. It could stop the plundering. Go to trial!

      1. Wykagyl
Why would their be meters there? It’s private property. Are you suggesting the city should now charge us to park on privately owned lots? Maybe they should put meters in our driveways also? Kevin I don’t see the problem with meters, they are everywhere in the world not just New Rochelle. I try to keep a handful of quarters in my car to avoid a ticket, its not that hard.
Trial sounds good if you are right, but I have no intentions of missing a day of work to pay a ticket where I didn’t pay the meter.
You are arguing two complete opposite things here, are you saying that meters are highway robbery or that city workers are issuing false tickets. If the later then by all means of course go to court.

      2. Clarity is Golden
There is no problem with meters. You miss my point. At Wykagyl, there are no meters, but apparently, they give tickets in the mall parking lot.
Like you, everyone should protect themselves against getting tickets and giving the city more money. But sometimes you get an unjustified ticket like the one I explained where there was no ticket left on my window.

Many people don’t want to lose a day of work and just pay.

        Thank you for your comment.

      3. Can You Have it Both Ways?
If the city can’t put meters on private property, what jurisdiction do they have to police a private lot? Can they give out tickets on privately owned property? They wouldn’t go into the Surf Club property to give a parking ticket would they? Maybe for a fire lane blocking or if it was an ordinance issue like trucks overnighting in Home Depot. Private lots reserve the right to have a vehicle towed, but not necessarily ticketed. Maybe someone can shed some light on this.

      4. Private property tickets?
It would seem that the parking lot in Wykagyl mall area should be private. But there are municipal signs. I will find out the detail and report back. If any else knows, please enlighten us.
