Today two important actions need to be brought to your attention:
1. Principal Briceno held mandatory meetings during teachers’ lunch.
During the meetings he encouraged every teacher to come to tomorrows PTA meeting under the premise their presence is a sign of support for former Assistant Principal Nadine Pacheco. This is another example of the us against them mentality perpetrated by this administration. We need to be creating a sense of community and caring during such a difficult time, not furthering anger and resentment. No teacher should feel that attending Thursday’s meeting will send any message except that they care about the school community and would like to be a part of the solution to this problem.
I hope every teacher comes to tomorrow’s Special PTA Meeting. Listens to the information and if questions still remain, ask them. Remember, we are all a community with a common goal, the well being of our children. We the parents will consider the presence of every teacher, staff member, and administrator as a sign of support for the community. Thank you in advance for coming to support your community.
2. Ms. Mussolini’s class was taken away from her today and she was forced into a substitute teaching position.
Ms.
Mussolini had been assigned as the replacement teacher for the year while Mrs. Zweback is on maternity leave. Today, Former Assistant Principal, Mrs. Pacheco was given Ms. Mussolini‘s class as the replacement teacher during Mrs. Zweback’s leave. Both actions have caused more questions.
- What is the union policy in regard to teachers lunch?
- Can a school Administrator within the district of New Rochelle legally mandate teachers to give up any to all of their lunch time?
- Why is Principal Briceno attempting to fracture the bridge between parents and teachers?
- Isn’t it a Principal’s responsibility to foster a sense of community?
- What did Mrs. Mussolini do to deserve having her class taken away from her?
- Is it fair that an innocent teacher suffers financial ramifications because her colleague’s mistake?
- How and when will the parents of Ms. Mussolini’s class be notified?
- How will the transition be made?
- What help will be given to the children of Ms. Mussolin to understand why they have lost their beloved teacher?
- Will these newest developments also be addressed at tomorrow’s Special PTA Meeting?
Thank you,
