An open Letter to the New Rochelle Board of Education:
Dear Honorable Elected Members of the New Rochelle Board of Education:
Congratulations and thank you.
Thank you for earnestly listening to the parents of Trinity School. You took the time to hear all concerns. And your President Ms. Petrone served you and the district well by showing sincerity and honestly answering questions.
No doubt, the board saw that Miss Mussolini was being forcibly removed from her classroom without cause. You saw that her pupil’s educational process would be disrupted by this abrupt change. And most importantly, you saw the need to heal the elements of mistrust among the community of parents and educators.
Congratulations. I know from experience that it is not easy to bring all the board members together to override a personnel decision made by your Superintendent of Schools. But your collective decision was based upon understanding all the facts of this sordid case.
By your decision to keep Miss Mussolini in her classroom, you have restored a tremendous level of faith among the parents of Trinity School and possibly throughout the district.
As I said at the meeting, by giving the former Assistant Principal a position at the same salary level in the same building is “rewarding fraud.” I understand this individual will continue in some capacity in the district at the expense of the taxpayers. Can the school district really afford to keep this individual on staff at $114K and still hire a new administrator at Trinity? Clearly, this is your next decision.
Again, thank you kindly for your service. It is sometimes a thankless job, but it is an honor to serve your community and set policy for the education of our future generations.

Incompetence and Curruption in Personnel Decisions
The Hiring, Firing, Promotion and Personnel Decisions the NRSD makes has no rhyme or reason. On thing for sure. They are never made in the best interests of the students. In times of apparent budgetary constraints why is it that the most senior technology related teachers who are closest to and have the most direct positive effect on the greatest number of staff and students are the first to go? Why is it that those who are least experienced and least competent and serve far less less students and staff in much smaller schools are retained? Favoritism? Nepotism? Age Discrimination? Incompetence? Ignorance? Other forms of discrimination? Politics? Kickbacks? Pay to play? Personal vendetta’s? Some of these reasons must have played a role in the hiring of these two administrators.Whatever the reason, one thing is for certain…..these decisions are NOT being made in the best interests of the children. A lot more to come when I have time to write! The lid is about to be blown off this filthy pot of boiling sewage.
