Message to our politicians. I have been involved with New Rochelle Soccer for many years. The success of our kids in travel teams and recreational soccer is measured by the amount of field time they can have; it spills over to the success of our HS soccer as well. Many communities have invested in our kids health by providing indoor-opportunities. To highlight this possibility, please see the item below from the governing group for our soccer programs:
Newburgh Armory to Become a Home Field to ENYYSA’s Olympic Development Program
By Randy Vogt, Director of Public Relations, Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association
October 17, 2011-The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) is very pleased to announce that the renovated Newburgh Armory in Orange County is becoming a home to our Olympic Development Program. ENYYSA will also use the Newburgh Armory for Coaching Education classes.
“The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association is absolutely delighted to enter into this partnership with the Newburgh Armory Unity Center to provide a home base for our Olympic Development Program-North and Coaching Education classes in Newburgh,” commented ENYYSA President Richard Christiano. “Just as importantly, we also believe that this refurbished facility will help keep kids off the streets and on soccer fields.”
Hudson Valley Youth Soccer League (HVYSL) President Elaine Cannella was instrumental in helping create this new partnership between two non-profit groups––ENYYSA and the Newburgh Armory Unity Center.
“The Newburgh Armory Unity Center is primarily dedicated to the community that surrounds it and its mission is to foster both academics and athletics,” commented HVYSL President Elaine Cannella. “Utilization of this state-of-the-art complex will be coordinated with the Newburgh Armory’s Executive Director.”
The indoor field will open this February. The fields will also be used by the HVYSL Select Program as well as Real FC and CONA (City of Newburgh Armory) and local clubs. Any club can request the use of the facility plus local tournaments might be played on the fields in the future as well.
The renovation of the Newburgh Armory is truly a win-win situation for the kids of ENYYSA and the children of the City of Newburgh.
CAN WE DO THIS IN NEW ROCHELLE?
