With 100% of the districts reporting, incumbent Republican Sheila Marcotte holds a 37 vote lead over challenger Democratic Kevin Fitzpatrick.
There are six election districts where the machines have been impounded, 4 in New Rochelle and 2 in Eastchester. Sources close to the Marcotte campaign tell Talk of the Sound that Marcotte expects the four New Rochelle election districts to be a wash and that she will pick up votes in the two Eastchester election districts.
“I’m cautiously optimistic,” said Minority Leader Jim Maisano.
“It’s a big deal because Sheila is a good, hardworking legislator and we want her back,” said Maisano. “it’s also a big deal because it would get us to 10-7 in the Westchester County Board of Legislators, getting us closer to 9 and preventing the Democrats from expecting to override vetoes.
Maisano expects the impact of the breaking of the Democrats Super Majority at the County level to have a big impact on the upcoming Budget negotiations, efforts to consolidate services with local governments and Playland.
