UPDATE: The girl jumped, sources tell Talk of the Sound.
A 13-year old girl fell five stories off the balcony of an apartment at Faymor Gardens at 130 Pelham Road in New Rochelle earlier this afternoon. She survived the fall and was taken to Jacobi Medical Center.
Neighbors say they heard arguing coming from the 5th floor apartment around 3:30 PM. Soon after they heard sirens as paramedics responded to the scene. It remains unclear whether the girl jumped, was pushed or fell accidentally.
Paramedics on the scene told neighbors that the girl likely broke both feet in the fall.
New Rochelle police would not comment as it is an ongoing investigation.
News 12 is reporting the girl is a student at Isaac E. Young Middle School.
UPDATE: Sources tell Talk of the Sound the girl tried to kill herself after an argument with her mother and sister, by jumping off the balcony. One source says the girl is known to police, having been involved in several previous cases. Another says the family has been a problem in the building for some time and that the incident is not a complete surprise.
