New York State Schools Chancellor John King made a short visit to New Rochelle today. Two programs were highlighted, one at Daniel Webster Elementary School and another at Columbus Elementary School.

    There is some irony when the New York State Commissioner of Education, who is African American, pays a visit to a racially/ethnically segregated school in the “Little Rock of the North” 50 years after a desegregation decision and does not even notice that the school he visited is a modern day example of segregation in public schools. Theres a story there somewhere.
