Amateur boxers from throughout Westchester County came together Saturday night for a series of fights at County Center in White Plains, NY.  Two cities united as Main Street Boxing with NRFD and NRPD joined together with White Plains Fire Department to raise funds to continue free youth training services keeping kids safe, off the streets and giving them alternatives to gang violence.  Main Street Boxing's focus is providing an option to youth violence and is helping kids channel negative energy into positive, providing them with empowerment coaching, physical strength and cardiovascular training, bullying awareness and prevention and role modeling.  Teaching the importance of nutrition and exercise, boxing training can enhance self esteem while modeling to young adults how to be better people in their community.

A total of 23 exciting fights took place that evening and kept all of County Center on the edge of their seats, 3 of those fights were between New Rochelle and White Plains' first responders.  The youngest fighter of the night was 8 years old and tough as nails and the oldest 42.   The fight of the night – NRPD Chris Castiglia beat his opponent WPFD Kris Eifler after three rounds of Eifler trying desperately to hold his own.  With non-stop action, Castiglia hands down put forth 110% desire and effort and took home the win.  WPFD Erik Refik won his first fight against one of NRFD's toughest and bravest Kieth Morris in a battle that was stopped early by the head official of USA Boxing.  NRFD's Christian Carozo defeated his opposition, fighter Kevin Gumble, winning his second fight. Coroza remains undefeated today.  NRFD Aaron James won his first brawl against WPFD Tony Brian.  A first fight for both men and the fight was in a Master's class. The fight was stopped early due to Tony's excessive bleeding.  Another one of the most exciting bouts had everyone off their chairs was New Rochelle fighter Paulie Sarachelli.  Sarachelli came out like an absolute powerhouse and his opponent didnt even get to finish the fight.  The fight was called early due to Paulie's total domination.  Main Street Boxing's Dwayne July put up a hell of a fight and won making his record 7-3.  Boxer Mike Fava was 0-2 and won his first fight with authority while being filmed by TLC for a reality TV show.  Fran McGuire fought 3 intense rounds and won his first fight and Anthony Pegues from New Rochelle, Golden Glove champ, won his fight as well.  Michele Herzl from Rye, NY lost the fight but put forth great effort and fought hard.  Michele will be taking her fighting skills with her this Thursday in her first round of Golden Gloves.

A big Congratulations goes out to all the Fighters, to NRFD, NRPD, and WPFD for their efforts, hard work, training and dedication to a great cause.  A special thanks to President of Main Street Boxing & Fitness Mike Stellate for his work and vision with our youth and to the event coordinator Sam Murtagh and her amazing crew at Main Street Boxing.
