New Roc Liberty, who finished the regular season 10-4, won the Tri-County 6th Grade girls A Championship by beating Harrison in the Championship game at College of New Rochelle by the score of 37-22., and and avenging a 1 point loss Harrison and Scarsdale in the regular season.
The championship win was led by LeSandra Turner with 14 points, and was supported by Eliana Silk and Christina Cohan with 6 points, as well as Jane McCauley and Cammie Bishop, each with 4.
In the semi-finals,held at Clark Academy, New Roc Liberty won over Mamaroneck 35-25. And was lead by Eliana Silk with 11, Christina Cohan 8, Jane McCauley 7 and LeSandra Turner with 6.
It was a real team effort this year, as this was the first Girls New Rochelle team to participate in the Tri County league .The team is comprised primarily of girls who played on the Ward and Webster Elementary School teams. The Ward team was the 3 year defending champions of the New Rochelle Rec League ..
The team was coached by John McCauley and Mike Sgobbo, head coach of the Ward Elementary Girls basketball team.
