A gray Ford Mustang Gave one New Rochelle family an early wake up call on the first day of daylight savings time. The vehicle came crashing through the front yard of 380 Daisy Farms Drive in New Rochelle near the Scarsdale border. New Rochelle police began receiving multiple calls about a car going through a home at around 745 a.m.
The car narrowly missed the house and a large tree, sliding between them and smashing into a fence at the back of the property and a small tree in a neighbor’s property at 1349 Weaver Street.
“My son woke me up and said ‘Dad a car hit the house’ and i said ‘again;, said Robert Kayaian, the homeowner of 380 Daisy Farms Drive, who told Talk of the Sound the same thing happened in October of last year except the car came from a different direction. A recent, unpainted replacement fence was was visible in the front yard.
The driver of the Mustang, Fred Correa, said he was driving northbound on Weaver Street when a car entered the intersection at Crossway and Weaver. Correa says he tried to speed up and get around the other car.
“I realized I wasn’t going to pass him, I put my brakes on to avoid him, I swerved but once I hit the dirt it was over.”, said Correa.
No one was injured and no charges were filed. Police were treating the incident as PDO or “property damage only”.
in the driver’s defense (de-fence?)
a car pulled out from crossway DIRECTLY in front of him. he had no time to react but did manage to avoid t-boning that car.
well judging from the skid marks
well judging from the skid marks…he had time to react way before the intersection. the problem was he was going to fast. The ford mustang w/ a 6 takes about 112 feet to stop on dry pavement @60 MPH
now go look at the some 80 feet of skid marks on the pavement before he mounted the curb and add on the 70 feet or so for the side walk, grass, shrubs and a fence and you can come to one conclusion is fast car dumb driver!
One other conclusion is it take the average driver .32 seconds to go from the gas to the brake he had time to react but he was going to fast….. as there is skid marks though the intersection.
One other conclusion is he probably well known to the police or the police just sorry he mess up his car and that was punishment enough.
Those stinking houses are
Those stinking houses are always jumping out in front of you. You think the home owner is at fault for failing to yeild to the right of way?
edit
doublepost… sorry
Potholes
He probably lost control after driving over a land-mine sized hole on that pothole-ridden stretch of Weaver. Maybe we can see some roads fixed this year with the snow plowing budget surplus.
It’s funny because that’s my
