Just a few hours ago, I posted on Facebook and put up a blog on Talk of the Sound about a friendly little ferret that followed me home while I was walking my dog. The information included the ferret obviously seemed like a house pet with a really sweet temperament . I took the little animal in my home and gave it some food and water and hurried to figure out what I should do next. . I am no “Mrs. Doolittle” but today inevitably, I felt like I was. I made a phone call to Rich Goldstein with Mobile Vet Squad in New Rochelle (who happens to be my all time favorite Veterinarian) and he suggested seeing if the New Rochelle Humane Society might be able to give me some assistance. I took it upon myself to then give it some time and use the internet as a tool and sure enough, a friend saw both my posts up and he knew of someone in New Rochelle who’s ferret had run away about a week ago. Within about an hour I got a phone call from a young guy who described the ferret and its markings before I even mentioned them. Owner Matthew Cahill of New Rochelle and his good friend Giovanni Piccone came by and positively identified “Fitz” the ferret and gratefully took him back home. Talk of the Sound contributed to a happy ending for “Fitz” and his family. Now that everyone’s home safe and sound, “Mrs. Doolittle” can call it a day.
