Medium Monroe Soccer 9534Anticipation for the Monroe Mustangs 2012 women’s soccer season couldn’t be higher. With a dynamic new coach – who is thoroughly familiar with Monroe soccer success – the Mustangs will be taking their national finalist status of a year ago, their 2011 14-1-1 record, and three championships in the last two seasons into the NJCAA Division I for the first time. Also, Monroe women’s soccer will provide opportunities for talented collegiate soccer players to play the sport they love in a championship program, receive high-quality coaching, training, and instruction, and of course, at the same time gain a quality career education that will lay the foundation for a rewarding, lifelong career.

“Yes, this is a bright and exciting new era for Monroe soccer,” said first-year head coach Jonathan Garbar, who has been the first assistant on Monroe’s nationally-acclaimed championship men’s soccer team for three years. “We’re going to forge a new era in Monroe women’s soccer by moving the program up from Division III to Division I and we’re going to utilize the same approaches and values that have won championships here at Monroe College for years, as well as implementing a new and elite brand of leadership and success.”

For Coach Garbar, there’s no susbstitute for recruiting talented athletes who are committed to being part of a winning program, one that benefits the team and more importantly, benefits the student athlete through team building, growth and character development, and ultimately the fulfillment of personal and educational goals.

“Monroe women’s soccer will pride itself on a team that exemplifies speed, talent, intelligence, and discipline. Championships are not earned in a match, but the journey begins on day one of preseason, which is the best day of the year! We believe in what we do and how we do it, and for that reason winning comes naturally, because it is always earned.”
