Iona Prep Joins with New Rochelle’s Catholic High Schools for Make a Difference Day This Saturday

IonaPrepMainEntranceIona Preparatory School will host its first-ever “Make A Difference Day” in coordination with all Catholic high schools in New Rochelle on Saturday, April 21, 2012. The event will begin at 8:00 am and conclude at 3:00 pm. The schools involved are .

The goal of the day is to gather about 100 students from all the schools and mix them into four work groups for a day of Christian service at different worksites. The worksites are Habitat for Humanity (construction), SAIL at Ferncliff Manor (construction), HOPE Community Services (food pantry), and New Rochelle Little League (clean field).

The day will begin with a prayer service and breakfast at the school. Then, the groups will be split up and bused to their particular worksites. The day will conclude with a reflection gathering back at Iona Prep. The moderator of “Make A Difference Day” is Anthony Casella ’97, Iona Prep’s director of campus ministry, along with Fr. Jay Horan from Salesian (coordinator of youth ministry), Edward Sullivan from Blessed Sacrament (principal), and Sr. Pat Schifini from Ursuline (director of campus ministry).
