The New Rochelle Council of Community Services (NRCCS) will honor four outstanding community leaders at their annual luncheon on Thursday June 7th, at 12:00 noon, at the Davenport Club, 400 Davenport Avenue, New Rochelle. The luncheon is open to the public, and tickets are $40 per person. Individuals wishing to purchase tickets should contact the NRCCS office, at nrccs@yahoo.com or call (914) 450-1503 before May 28th.
The 2012 honorees are: Deborah Blatt, the founder of “Sharing Shelf”; Sylvia Samilton-Baker, Director of Providence House; Mary Jane Reddington, member of the Board of Education and the New Rochelle Public Library Foundation, and past president of numerous organizations; and Alan J. Cohen, proprietor of A.J.’s Burgers and community supporter.
The NRCCS will also award its annual $1,000 scholarship to a New Rochelle High School junior who has exemplified the mission of the New Rochelle Council of Community Services by selflessly dedicating his or her time and talents to help others.
The New Rochelle Council of Community Services, established in 1936, is a 501c3 non-profit umbrella organization for the health and human service agencies, religious institutions, and educational facilities of New Rochelle. This includes entities situated outside New Rochelle that also serve the city. NRCCS provides an important opportunity for service-providers and community administrators to make vital connections and address community needs.
