Confidence in Public Schools Reaches New All-Time Low

Gallup SchoolConfidenceA new Confidence in Institutions Gallup Poll is out which shows Americans’ confidence in public schools has reached a new low with just 29% expressing “a great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in public schools. In the last survey in 2007-08, confidence in public schools stood at 33%. The high was 58% the first time Gallup included public schools, in 1973.

Gallup has conducted its survey of Americans confidence in a variety of U.S. institutions since 1973, including annually since 1993.

Americans are most confident in the military (75%). Congress is ranked last with 13% confidence.

  1. Report :State Legislator to Allow Teacher Evaluation Posting
    Yesterday the State Legislators voted to allow evaluations of teachers to be made pubic without using the teachers’ names. Such a back door approach can only lessen the public’s confidence in education.
