DES MOINES, IA – Iona College men’s outdoor track senior Mitch Goose finished 12th in the 5000-meter NCAA Championship at Drake University. Goose ran a time of 14:02.53 two seconds behind the 11th place performer and just five seconds off the First Team All-America pace.
Goose’s time was his second fastest of the year behind his NCAA qualifying and school record time of 13:34.41 at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational in April. It stands as one of the Top 15 times in school history.
Southern Utah’s Cameron Levins won the event with his time of 13:40.05.
Goose’s performance wraps up the 2011-2012 campaign for Iona College athletics. He will earn Second Team All-America honors when its announced on Monday.
