Detective Justin Wilson was appointed to the Department in August 1999, and is currently assigned to the Property Theft Unit. He is the recipient of the Police Commissioner’s Award, one Class C Citation, two Commendation Awards and one Special Incident Citation. During July, Detective Wilson was instrumental in terminating a burglary spree in the southeast sector of the city. Several homes along Stephenson Boulevard had been burglarized, and the burglars had been seen fleeing the area but on all occasions managed to escape. On August 1St, Detective Wilson and other units responded to the report of a burglary in progress at 21 Barnard Road. Two suspects were apprehended leaving the area. Detective Wilson quickly recognized that the suspects fit the description of the suspects wanted in the burglaries he was investigating on Stephenson Boulevard. His skillful questioning of the suspects led to confessions and arrests on all of the southeast sector burglaries and the attempted burglary on Barnard Road. For his performance, Detective Justin Wilson was designated Officer of the Month for July 2011.
Each year, as part of National Police Week each May, the City of New Rochelle acknowledges outstanding police officers and units. The 2012 New Rochelle Police Department Awards Ceremony was held at the Greentree County Club on May 16th.
